I am taking a class this term about the persuasive communication of the women's suffrage movement. I am loving the class and have always enjoyed learning about the different waves of feminism. I have encountered a few quotations along the way so far that are still relevant today--both for our collective movement and for the activism and advocacy in which we engage individually wherever we find ourselves. Here they are:
"The true religion is that which sets people free."
~ Matilda Joslyn Gage
"Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God."
~ Susan B. Anthony
"Beware, lest you become too respectable."
~ Elizabeth Cady Stanton
